Phillip Schubert
Phillip Schubert studied the making, theories and history of fine art at California Institute of the Arts and San Francisco Art Institute, where he earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, studying under such internationally renowned artists as Henry Wessel, Reagan Louie and Sam Tchakalian. His interest in art collection management was instilled soon afterward, when he spent three years learning the intricacies of preparatorship and registration with Fraenkel Gallery, one of the most respected fine art photography galleries in the world. He admired, absorbed and applied the high level of professionalism and cooperation practised by its directors and staff--qualities that continue to guide him today.

After accepting a position with Ship Art International, an industry leader in the storage, transport and installation of fine art, Phillip was promoted to a management role, in which he was entrusted with the care of thousands of artworks owned by private collectors and major institutions. For thirteen years he directed and executed the documentation, packaging, storage, movement and installation of museum-quality works by artists such as Andy Warhol, Louise Bourgeois, Anish Kapoor, Rachel Whiteread, Damien Hirst, Takashi Murakami and Anselm Kiefer, to name just a few. He was an integral member of the multidisciplinary teams that include art collectors, collection managers, museum registrars and conservators, all of whom are vital to the preservation of such cultural treasures. His associations with these professionals, coupled with continued independent study, have enabled him to glean a broad knowledge base critical to the proper management of any art collection.

In 2010 Phillip moved with his wife and young son to Sydney Australia, where he has been fortunate to continue his career, and by establishing Art Squared, synthesises the knowledge, skills and experience he's accumulated over the years into an independent, comprehensive service for those with a need for professional management of fine art collections.
